Christian Pincock is a trombonist and composer who’s energetic and lyrical music pushes jazz conventions. His compositional approach is similar to the process of a sculptor, developing a piece by removing layers of material leaving only the most important and connected elements. For this event, Christian will be performing new original music for quintet. Joining Christian on this show will be Levi Gillis (tenor sax), Gus Carns (piano), Jon Hansen (tuba) and Greg Campbell (drums). More info: christianpincock.net
Colouri (cuh-LOHR-ee) is Gregg Belisle- Chi (guitar), Andrew J.S. (tenor saxophone), Carmen Rothwell (bass), and Chris Icasiano (drums). Originally assembled to play and honor the music of the late Paul Motian, the quartet has since begun composing original music inspired by the spirit and melodic vitality of Motian’s oeuvre. Focusing on collective improvisation, Colouri is at once quiet as they are deft, and delicate as they are wild.
