Vermillion 1st Thursday

September 7, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm

Trimtab – 10pm
Trimtab is the concept of guitarist Jason Goessel, who being heavily influenced by the ideas of Buckminster Fuller, saw an intrinsic link between architecture and musical form – a link he sought to express in sound. Sweeping dynamic changes, woven through hypnotic musical tensions, all set against persistent grooves, the music of Trimtab is a unique blend of the concrete and the sonic, the physical and the ephemeral. Trimtab features Jason Goessl (guitar), Phil Cali (bass) and Brian Oppel (drums).

Schuyler Asplin + peepz – 9pm
Schuyler’s musical journey started at the age of 4 when he joined Northwest Boy Choir. When he was 8, his family moved to Spokane, Washington, where he began studying classical piano and trumpet, as well as music theory at the ‘Odyssey Gifted Education Program.’ While in grade school, he began performing and studying with jazz legend Thomas Kelly, where he developed a love of jazz and improvised music. His passion for jazz led his to his studies at Eastern Washington University’s jazz workshops, involvement in Spokane All-city Jazz Ensemble, and the summer intensive workshop at the ‘School for Improvisational Music’ (SIM) in Brooklyn, New York where he took lessons from Ralph Alessi. He continued his classical studies, performing as principal trumpet of Spokane Youth Orchestra and receiving the distinguished Oliver C. Fuller award for his performance with the Lewis and Clark High School wind ensemble.

The quartet is Seth Alexander, Stuart MacDonald, Christian Pincock, Dave Abramson, and Bren Plummer. Inside, outside, sideways.
