FLESH FOR FANTASY   Paintings by Michelle McCarthy & Navé. Opening Thursday, February 8, 2018 6-9pm

| February 7, 2018

In February, Vermillion presents two women painters who abstractly represent female bodies with a bold & deep use of color in multiple-mediums.

About Michelle McCarthy:

Michelle McCarthy is a painter born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. The paintings in this series were inspired by different genres of music and the integration of music and visual art. The Jazz collection was inspired by  mid-century Jazz greats like Miles Davis and Charlie Parker, and the Opera collection was inspired by Lakme’s Flower Duet, both are part of a larger exploration of the intersection between music, color, and shape.

About Navé:

“I began painting as a way to pass the time while caring for my grandmother during her last year of life.
Unable to leave her for any extended period of time, I decided to try painting as a hobby.
I realized right away I had found something I not only enjoyed, but had found a way to express my emotions in a way words could not (I still find this to be true).
I am so grateful to my grandmother,  “Quintella”.  Without her, I am certain I would not have discovered this part of me, and for that, I will be eternally thankful.”
