Rachel Maxi “GATHERING”

A group art show featuring local and national artists benefiting Northwest Harvest.

The saying “You can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family” becomes especially poignant this time of year. This month Vermillion has gathered a group of eclectic local and national artists who may at first seem to have little in common thematically but are related in their earnestness and talent. Rather than conjure up a theme for all the artists to work around, we are simply gathering together for a common cause and to make a few new introductions – an auspicious setting for new and familiar talent.

Local superstars like Rachel Maxi and Kellie Talbot will be rubbing elbows with a graffiti artist out of Brooklyn (LogikOne), a former Seattleite who hit the big time with simple parodies of pop culture on a self published blog (14 Galleryoftheabsurd.com) and a Canadian artist who does portraits of starlets with Trident gum (Jason Kronenwald).

Gathering is a “holiday show” in that we hope you consider the gift of art for your loved ones but also that you help us contribute to the Northwest Harvest by bringing pre-prepared shelf ready food items such as: canned tuna, pasta, peanut butter, canned fruits/vegetables, cereal, baby formula and diapers. We are also accepting monetary donations and a portion of the galleries’ commission on all art sales is being donated.

In the far-and-wide spirit of this get together, the participating artists are listed below with the three-letter airport code of their closest major city. They are: 14 (SFO), Kamala Dolphin-Kingsley (PDX), Ryan Hobson (SEA), Jason Kronenwald (YYZ), LogikOne (JFK), Jessica Logsdon (MCI), Rachel Maxi (SEA), Billy Morehouse (MSP), Keith Noordzy (LAX), Chris Ryniak (CLE), Josh Slater (LGA), Kellie Talbot (SEA), Joey Veltkamp (SEA).
